Seong Cho
Korean-born, Australian artist Seong Cho’s five decades of work spans across sculpture, drawing, painting and installations, and most recently focus on printmaking. Cho’s prints are inspired by nature and invite the viewer into a rhapsodic landscape that offers a zen state of mind. Her works are typically printed on Korean mulberry paper, which reflect the artist’s cultural heritage. Cho’s abstract prints are characterised by bold, black, brushstroke-like lines, which create movement, depth and spaciousness. The unexpected nature of Cho’s signature brushstrokes reflect the uncertainty of life and the unpredictability of nature. Cho’s works have been included in many of Australia’s preeminent printmaking prizes and exhibitions and selected for competitions and exhibitions internationally. Her works have been featured in several solo exhibitions and included in group shows including those with the Sydney Printmakers, of which Cho is a member.
